Over the last few weeks I have been in my kart a lot. Firstly I visited GYG (Glan y Gors) a racing circuit in Wales. I did a whole day testing 3 nights before new year arrived. There was only 5 other drivers there so I could go on the track whenever I wanted to. I did 87 laps altogether through the whole day. I was really tired after that. But I had to keep some energy in for the new year party!
After testing in Wales I moved on to Sunderland at the Warden Law kart circuit. I did 1 and a 1/2 days of none stop testing. On the Saturday, I travelled the 3 hour journey to get to the track. As soon as I got there I was setting up the kart, once I had done that I was on the track (Dad & Richard helped!). It was wet all weekend so we had wet tyres on. I was dialled in to the track all weekend.
So I have been very busy. This weekend I will be at Northampton for the first round of the championship though I am not planning to do all of the rounds this year because I want to do the PFI championship instead this year. I wish you all a great year from me.
Another couple of ace weekends! Back to back racing – Shenington then Whilton Mill. A disappointing finish in the final yesterday, I was solid at 13, in the mix and looking good at the half way point; when there was a red flag and the race was stopped and then not re started (the drivers were OK) #disappointed
Thanks for your comments – I have uploaded some GoPro’s from my practice at Sheni – on my YouTube channel and under the races section on my website – enjoy!
Next race at Kimbolton – second week in October.

It was great to have Richard and Winnie and all the support at the July meeting at Whilton Mill.
We had a great time testing – Richard had loads of tips for me to go faster, I can’t go into detail because its secret – haha! But it’s now much easier to overtake – #secretweapon!!!!
The final was epic – although I started 9th, I got into a train and battled it out all the way. I was second place in the train, and on the last corner I overtook the first person in the train and came 6th – it was an awesome finish and we cracked open some cokes to celebrate….
August – a double header – great weekend again! Tested on Friday, getting the set up right. Funny time when we all went out on slicks and it started raining – we were slipping and sliding all over the place. Still managed to stay on the track though, luckily it was just the practice session.
On Saturday, I did well in my heats, I started 11th on the grid in the final and made it up to 5th by the third corner – I was on fire until I hit the kerb and spun and beached myself on the grass. Watched everybody pass by #annoyinggutted Half a lap behind everyone – I did overtake the novices. Thanks to Will and Jacob coming to support, and all the Kibbles.
Sunday – brilliant in the heats again. I started 7th in the final. I was leading a train, they were pushing me to catch up with the driver in front, on the last two laps it was carnage to see who would get 5th! I came 6th by only 4/1000ths of a second after 5th.
Thanks again to everyone who supports me – next race Shenington on 14th & 15th September!
The last three races have flown by! I’ve been pushing hard to get off my novice plates (because this means you have to start at the back of the grid) – and finally on Sunday I completed my fifth race as a novice, and now I get to start at the front, middle and back over three races to qualify for a start position for the final!
So Kimbolton in May, I won the novice trophy!
Then at Whilton Mill two weeks later, I got taken on the final bend and came second – I was gutted!!
My final novice race at Rissington last weekend… I did really well in two of the heats and OK in the third one which meant I started in 11th on the grid for the final. Once again there was a pile up on the first corner but it was behind me so although we drove under yellow flags for two laps it didn’t affect me. I had lots of fun in the final racing hard and came over the line as first novice! I was gob smacked when I saw the trophy – it was huge!
This was the first weekend that Rissington were starting a special memorial novice race and part of the prize was a new set of slicks too!
Thanks for reading; my next race is back at my club Whilton Mill on June 23rd. I’ve already put my yellow plates on – I can’t wait!
This weekend it was the first club championship race of the year, the first one was cancelled because of the snow.
We went early on Saturday morning to set up and test out some new kit…
Testing went well; we worked out the best set up for the next day.
We slept in the van over night – it was freezing!
Sunday morning I woke up ready to race! We had a drivers briefing at 9.30am, first practice at 10am – for three laps. We did three heats, I qualified as best novice for the final.
The final was at 3pm – I started well but got taken out on the last corner of the first lap! Meaning I was right at the back! I soon caught up the pack and over took the other novices. I created a gap of about 10 seconds behind me and caught up the yellow plate drivers in front.
I ended as best novice and added another trophy to my collection!
